Know your current office-holders

The printed guide names the Queen, but these change over time. The test may ask who currently holds these roles, so memorise the up-to-date answers (June 2026):

  • Head of state (the Sovereign): King Charles III
  • Governor General: Mary Simon (Louise Arbour is installed as the next Governor General on June 8, 2026)
  • Prime Minister (head of government): Mark Carney
  • Also know: the premier of your province or territory, your provincial lieutenant governor, and the name of your member of Parliament (MP).
How to use this: Treat the mock test like the real thing — 45 minutes, no notes. Aim for 18 / 20 consistently before your real test. Anything you miss lands in your mistake book; flag tricky questions to revisit. Your progress is saved on this device.
Practice questions are original, written from the facts in the Government of Canada's Discover Canada: The Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship study guide. The actual exam questions are confidential and are not reproduced here. Styled with the Maple design system. This is a study aid, not an official IRCC product.
