About Maple Citizen

Maple Citizen is a free, independent study tool that helps newcomers prepare for the Canadian citizenship test with confidence — covering every topic the exam can draw from, in a way that's easy to use and easy to remember.

Independent study aid. Maple Citizen is not affiliated with, authorised by, or endorsed by the Government of Canada or IRCC. Our notes are original summaries written from facts in the official Discover Canada guide, and we do not reproduce the confidential official test questions.

What Maple Citizen is

Maple Citizen turns the Government of Canada's official study booklet, Discover Canada: The Rights and Responsibilities of Citizenship, into an interactive way to prepare for the citizenship knowledge test. The real test asks 20 questions drawn from Canada's history, geography, system of government, rights and responsibilities, symbols and more — and you need at least 15 correct to pass.

We organise all of that material into ten focused topics, with plain-language study notes, realistic practice questions and full-length timed mock tests. The goal is simple: you should always know what to study next, and exactly how close you are to being ready.

Why we built it

Preparing for citizenship shouldn't be stressful or expensive. A lot of study material is locked behind a paywall, out of date, or simply reprints the booklet without helping you actually remember any of it. We built Maple Citizen to be free to start, comfortable to use on a phone during a commute, and genuinely helpful — the kind of tool we'd have wanted ourselves.

Studying the core material, working through the questions you get wrong, and tracking your progress costs nothing, and it always will.

What you can do on Maple Citizen

Maple Citizen Pro adds unlimited mock tests, Smart Review that targets your weak spots, flagged-question review and an ad-free experience — but the core studying stays free for everyone.

How we keep the content accurate

Our study notes are original summaries, written in our own words, from the facts published in Discover Canada — the official guide the citizenship test is based on. We focus on the things the test is built around: key dates, institutions, rights, responsibilities and national symbols. We do not publish the confidential official exam questions, which are not public, and we review our material against the current guide so it stays up to date as Canada's official information changes.

Who runs Maple Citizen

Maple Citizen is an independent project operated by Zongheng Tian, based in British Columbia, Canada. We're not a government service, and we can't help with personal immigration files — but we can help you walk into the knowledge test feeling prepared. Questions, feedback or corrections are always welcome on our contact page or at support@maplecitizen.ca.
